This is one of my favorite pieces to date. The idea behind this painting was to create something that represented the antithesis to “Ignorance is Bliss”. I wanted to show the audience the pain of knowing things. That knowing can be painful. And ultimately, ignoring the truth can be a gift, and least for our sanity. This painting, even though it is a cartoon character—shows not only the pain, but self-medication and ultimately addiction.
